All libraries have caches of knowledge about their institution—either purposefully compiled or passively accumulated. Sometimes information is a pile of dusty brochures, some old WordPerfect files, or someone’s hand-scribbled notes. None of these forms are ideal, but what’s worse is when that information is not recorded at all, but lives only in the minds of your colleagues! The presenters will talk about how they’ve sought out and organized information at their own institution and then used it to help support day-to-day operations, events, donor relations, and exhibits. In so doing, they demonstrated their library’s value in an unexpected manner.
