In these changing times when many feel overwhelmed by the demands of modern law libraries, both project management (PM) and legal project management (LPM) can deliver great benefits. Project management tools that lend themselves well to both PM and LPM will be explored for resource utilization, budgeting, and reporting. Three panelists representing both the academic law library environment and the law firm environment will identify the similar tools available in both project management and legal project management that help an organization plan, monitor, and provide legal services to both attorneys and soon-to-be attorneys. The discussion will address: setting priorities that are aligned with stakeholders, listing tasks, estimating time and costs, calculating resource requirements, assessing and mitigating risks, and ultimately learning, praising, and assessing the final results.
