jlbryan@indiana.eduIn Spring 2014, the law librarians at Indiana University Maurer School of Law were approached by the director of the Legal Research & Writing program for 1Ls at Maurer to create research tutorials for the students to watch in preparation for the research lectures in the 2014-2015 academic year. Over the Summer, the librarians scripted, designed, and recorded a series of short videos on case law and statutory research, focusing on WestlawNext, Lexis Advance, and Bloomberg Law.
The videos combined PowerPoint and “live action” screencasts, and were recorded and edited using Camtasia. They were then uploaded to the Law Library’s YouTube channel, and embedded in a LibGuide for ease of access.
Finally, the law librarians were asked to create quizzes to correspond to the tutorials. These were created using Google Forms, and were embedded on the LibGuide as well.
