LibGuide or Other Guide

  • Cases Tutorials (2015): “In Spring 2014, the law librarians at Indiana University Maurer School of Law were approached by the director of the Legal Research & Writing program for 1Ls at Maurer to create research tutorials for the students to watch in preparation for the research lectures in the 2014-2015 academic year. Over the Summer, the librarians scripted, designed, and recorded a series of short videos on case law and statutory research, focusing on WestlawNext, Lexis Advance, and Bloomberg Law. The videos combined PowerPoint and “live action” screencasts, and were recorded and edited using Camtasia. They were then uploaded to the Law Library’s YouTube channel, and embedded in a LibGuide for ease of access. Finally, the law librarians were asked to create quizzes to correspond to the tutorials. These were created using Google Forms, and were embedded on the LibGuide as well.” Ashley Ahlbrand, Michelle Trumbo & Jennifer Morgan
  • Legal Research Guides: Methods of Finding Cases (2014)
  • Methods of Finding Cases (2014): “These research guides were created to accompany the law librarians’ lectures in the Legal Research & Writing program at Indiana University Maurer School of Law. The guides are designed to demonstrate the purpose each type of legal material – statutes, cases, and secondary sources – plays in legal research and the methods for finding each.  Guidance is provided for using these materials on Lexis Advance, WestlawNext, Bloomberg Law, and to some extent in print.  The guides were created using the LibGuides platform and are freely accessible.  Their content is updated regularly to reflect changes in the legal research databases.” Ashley Ames Ahlbrand and Jennifer Bryan Morgan
