The Digitization and Educational Technology Special Interest Section (formerly known as Micrographics/Audio-Visual) focuses on three core areas:
- Presentation using educational technology (e.g., using images in PowerPoint)
- Preservation of materials through digitization
- Production using educational technology (e.g., making a movie or videotaping presenters)
Though some of our members are experts in one or more of the above areas, you don't need to be an expert to join. In fact, one of our strengths is educating DET-SIS members as well as other members of AALL in those areas. If you have any interest in any of the three above areas, DET-SIS membership is for you.
Our list of past programs on the history page can give you a better idea of what is included in each of the three core interests.
DET-SIS had a successful 2017 AALL Annual Meeting and Conference.
Members at the business meeting discussed ongoing changes to AALLNET and Annual Meeting programming, future topics for SIS Annual Meeting programs, and outreach to new SIS members. Members at the roundtable discussed topics such as digitization of oral history projects, teaching various aspects of educational technology and web accessibility.
Attendees at the SIS sponsored program learned about learning styles. The presenters discussed strategies for addressing the needs of each type of learner and products to assist attendees in carrying out those strategies.
