Attend TS-SIS Awards and Business Meeting “Virtually”
The 2016 TS-SIS Award and Business Meeting will be held in person and online on Monday July 18, 2016 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. central time (agenda (19 KB PDF)). This meeting will include a run-off election and a bylaws vote (see below). To attend “virtually,” send an email to Pat Roncevich, TS-SIS Secretary (roncevic@pitt.edu) by 4:00 p.m. eastern time on Thursday, July 14, to register. Only registered virtual attendees will receive personalized links to the WebEx live stream and the online ballot.
TS-SIS Annual Meeting VIP
The Technical Services Special Interest Section (TS-SIS) will host Rachel Fewell as its VIP during the 2016 Annual Meeting. Rachel is the Central Library Administrator at the Denver Public Library. In her previous role, she was the Collection Services Manager and project manager for Denver Public Library’s involvement in the Library Link initiative. Denver Public Library has taken the lead in transforming library catalog data into a format the internet can read, consume, and return relevant results to anyone searching the web. Rachel will be presenting at the “Linked Data and BIBFRAME in Action” workshop on Saturday and the “Creating the Future of Discovery and Research” program on Sunday. She will also attend the Marla Schwartz Reception on Sunday evening and the TS-SIS Awards and Business Meeting on Monday. Learn more about Rachel on her LinkedIn profile.
Proposed Bylaws Revisions
During the TS-SIS Awards and Business Meeting (Monday, July 18, 2016, Section members will vote to adopt revised Bylaws. The revised Bylaws change procedures in event of tie vote (Article IV, Section 4 (f)), clarify the use of electronic balloting to vote on bylaw amendments (Article VIII), simplify references to the Section and Association, clarify that the terms of office begin and end at the adjournment of annual business meeting, expand procedures for calls for nominations, move section on Nominating Committee from Article IV to Article VII, and delet Article VIII on Parliamentary Authority as redundant.

Abbie Grotke, Lead Information Technology Specialist on the Library of Congress Web Archiving Team will present on web archiving generally at the Library of Congress and relevant collaborative projects such as the International Internet Preservation Consortium (IIPC) and the web archiving survey. Andrew Weber, Legislative Information Systems Manager in the Law Library of Congress will talk about the Law Library’s role in web archiving and the collections that are being archived.
