AALL Virtual Coffee Chat: Government Law Libraries: Communicating Impact from Elevator Pitch to Annual Report

Tuesday, February 24, 2026 (2pm - 2:45pm US/Central)

Government law libraries deliver essential services to courts, agencies, attorneys, and the public—but how do we demonstrate that impact in ways that resonate with decision-makers, funders, and community partners? This interactive session brings together government law library leaders to explore practical strategies for measuring, interpreting, and communicating value—from a 30-second elevator pitch to a polished annual report.

Through facilitated discussion and real-world examples, Andre Davison, Cathryn Bowie and Joanne Kiley will share how they determine whether their services are making a difference, the types of data they collect, and how they transform that data into compelling narratives tailored to key stakeholders. Participants will examine and share best practices for defining and measuring outreach, setting benchmarks, evaluating programs, and deciding what metrics to add or retire as needs evolve.

Attendees will participate in live polling and short surveys on elevator pitches, annual report requirements, and outreach definitions.

Please note: AALL virtual coffee chats are not recorded and registration is open to AALL members only.
