This webinar is hosted by the Black Law Librarians SIS (BLL-SIS) and is open to AALL members.

Presented by the Black Law Librarians SIS (BLL-SIS), this webinar serves as the BLL-SIS Black History Month program. The subject is John Baptiste Lafargue, born to an enslaved woman and a white father in 1863. J.B. Lafargue's life was marked with incredible achievements, flourishing during the Reconstruction era. But upon Lafargue's death in 1943, the State of Louisiana sought to disinherit his heirs due to his being "illegally born." The webinar will cover J.B. Lafargue's remarkable contributions and the outcome of his succession case.
