Resolution on the 100th Anniversary of AALL

WHEREAS, the American Association of Law Libraries has been in existence for 100 years;

WHEREAS, the American Association of Law Libraries has organized itself to promote and enhance the value of law libraries to the legal and public communities, to foster the profession of law librarianship, and to provide leadership in the field of legal information;

WHEREAS, the American Association of Law Libraries serves as the voice of permanent public access to legal information and the leaders of the profession;

WHEREAS, the American Association of Law Libraries is committed to providing tools and resources that will equip its members with the skills needed to meet the ever changing needs of their environment, particularly through leadership training, educational opportunities, and national advocacy initiatives;

WHEREAS, the American Association of Law Libraries and the Medical Library Association collaborate on national advocacy initiatives that support the mission of libraries to facilitate access, particularly in the areas of intellectual property and copyright law and open access;

WHEREAS, the American Association of Law Libraries collaborates with the Medical Library Association, the American Library Association, the Association for Library and Information Science Education, the Association of Research Libraries, the Association of Art Libraries, and the Special Libraries Association on strategic issues of importance to the international library community through the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions’ Management of Library Associations Section;

Be it therefore resolved that the Medical Library Association commends the American Association of Law Libraries for 100 years of outstanding excellence and achievement in support of the profession of law librarianship.
